Arthur “Blackie” Reyes, 83, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, with his son by his side.

Blackie was born on January 30, 1943, in Fresno, California, to Mercedes and Manuel Reyes. He proudly served his country in the United States Army & Navy after joining the military at the age of 17. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of his career to the Fresno & Sacramento Department of Transportation, where he was a respected and hardworking employee.

Blackie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Antonia Reyes and his children, Laura Arteaga, Arthur Reyes Jr. and Lupe Reyes, and his 9 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dolores Antunez and Helen Hernandez. He also joins in eternal rest his son Phillip Reyes and his siblings Tony Rocha, Manuel Reyes Jr., Lupe Carrion, Norma Farreta, Alex “Hondo” Espinoza, Rudy Espinoza, and Ruben “The Raz” Recendez.

Services will be held at the Fresno Funeral Chapel located at 1136 A Street, Fresno, CA, 93706 on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 12:00-2:00pm.

Blackie will be remembered for his service to his country, his love for his family, and the stories he shared throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Forever loved, forever remembered.
