Obituary For GABRIEL JOHN GARCIA JR
Safe in His Arms — A Tribute to Gabriel Garcia Jr.
February 17, 2008 – July 16, 2025
There are no words strong enough to hold the weight of our grief. And yet, there is a peace — a holy peace — that carries us when we cannot walk.
In this sacred image, we see what our hearts believe:
That Gabriel is home.
Smiling. Free. Healed.
Safe in the arms of Jesus.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
— 2 Timothy 4:7
Though he was only 17, Gabriel carried the soul of a warrior. He faced every moment of his journey with courage, faith, and a smile that never faded. He inspired his family, classmates, teachers, and friends. He taught us to lean on God — even when it hurt.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled… I go to prepare a place for you.”
— John 14:1–3
We hold tight to the promise that Gabriel now walks the shores of Heaven, where pain has no place and joy never ends.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…”
— Revelation 21:4
Gabriel’s heart was wide and welcoming. Every person he came in contact with held a special place in his heart. He saw people for who they were — and made them feel known, loved, and accepted.
He is survived by his mother Crystal Gomez Martinez and his father William Martinez who gave him love, courage, strength and Jesus. Also by his father Gabriel Garcia and his sister Jade Garcia brother to Marcelino Luna Jr., and Alex Luna
He also leaves behind many cousins whom he loved like brothers and sisters, grandparents on both sides who adored him, a dedicated coach who walked beside him through his journey.
To Katie Botello, Ryan Payne, friends, teachers, and Sunnyside High School classmates, Gabriel was more than a student — he was a fighter, a light, and a brother. Many of them stood with him through his battle, offering strength and prayer when he needed it most.
Go Wildcats. Sunnyside strong. Gabriel strong.

Until we meet again, Gabriel…
We will remember you in every sunrise.
In every laugh. In every quiet prayer.
And in the arms of Jesus, we know — your home.
